Yayın A Scoping review of artificial intelligence applications in airports(Sigma Xplore, 2024) Amiri, Misagh Haji; Kuşakcı, Ali Osman; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme BölümüThis paper aims to synthesize the literature on the application of artificial intelligence for airports. The selected methodology was based on the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), a recognized framework for systematic reviews. Authors searched the Scopus and Web of Science databases for articles that met the following criteria: (1) publication in peer-reviewed journals, (2) English language, and (3) relevance to airport operations, demonstrated by either (a) the use of airport datasets for showcasing AI applications or (b) the use of airports as case studies. Articles were assessed by two reviewers, and data were extracted on the articles’ keywords, publication year, and origin country. After screening and checking for eligibility, 121 unique articles were examined. Upon assessment, the included articles were categorized into seven main themes. Each category and its specific subtopics were individually discussed within this paper. Results indicate that the most extensively studied category belongs to airport administration and management. Security and air traffic control (ATC) were the second and third most studied categories, respectively. Notably, a significant portion of the articles focused on optimization techniques, scheduling strategies, and developing decision support systems (DSS) tailored to various airport departments. This paper not only highlights current research trends in the field of AI for airports but also identifies gaps in the existing literature. The paper proposes future research directions to enhance the effective implementation of AI technologies within airport environments.Yayın Diversity in the board of directors and the social sustainability pillar of the firm: Evidence from countries with high environmental, social, and governance scores(Common Ground Research Networks, 2022) Amiri, Misagh Haji; Kifo, Nour; Kuşakcı, Sümeyye; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme BölümüThis study aims to empirically test the relationship between board demographic diversity and firms' social sustainability in countries with high Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores. The board demographic diversity was measured based on two dimensions: gender and cultural dimensions. Social sustainability was studied through four dimensions: workforce, human rights, community, and product responsibility. The panel data was attained through Thomson Reuters Eikon Database for 1491 firms from ten countries from 2014-2018. The empirical model was tested by two dynamic panel data methods: Generalized Least Squares (GLS) and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). Findings suggest that gender diversity has a positive impact on all four dimensions of social sustainability. There is also a positive and significant relationship between cultural diversity and three dimensions of social sustainability: workforce, community, and product responsibility. However, cultural diversity has shown an insignificant and negative relationship with the human rights dimension.Yayın The evolution of foreign direct investment in Iran: Determinants and economic impact(Karabük Üniversitesi, 2024) Amiri, Misagh HajiThis paper examines the historical context and contemporary research on foreign direct investment (FDI) in Iran, a topic with limited prior research. The study aims to fill this gap by highlighting FDI critical significance for the country's economic development. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of FDI in Iran, tracing key milestones and shifts in investment patterns over time, particularly in response to changing political, economic, and social landscapes. Additionally, it reviews existing literature on the determinants and effects of FDI in the Iranian economy, focusing on crucial factors such as political stability, regulatory frameworks, and market potential. The study reveals how fluctuations in FDI can be attributed to both internal dynamics, such as government policies and economic conditions, and external influences, including international relations and global market trends. By synthesizing previous research, this paper aims to illuminate the complexities surrounding FDI in Iran, offering insights into its impact on economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement. Furthermore, the findings underscore strategic policy implications for enhancing investment attractiveness, advocating for reforms that promote a more favorable investment climate. Ultimately, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of FDI's role in shaping Iran's economic trajectory and its implications for the broader Middle Eastern region.
